APA December Online Speed Dating

Wednesday, December 2, noon-1:30pm (ET)

Open to APA members only: Lottery-chosen narrators will present themselves and their skills to audiobook producers online via Zoom. Prospective Speed Daters will register at, create a profile on Erggo.US, uploading a clip to Erggo, then go to Events in Erggo and select APA December Speed Dating. Enter the Event Code: APASD1202 into the “enter event code” box, and click “GO” to be entered into the selection lottery. You must not have participated in APA Speed Dating for the past 2 years to be eligible.

Candidates must be registered and have uploaded demos by October 28, 2020.

The final list of participants will be selected no later than November 13.

What should my clip include? Clip(s) should be short (maximum 5 minutes) and should highlight your best skills – include dialogue and/or accents if that’s what you do well, but don’t feel you MUST include those.

Which publishers will be participating? We won’t know until the week before the event, but we generally have 20-25 publishers represented. Selected narrators will be sent a list of the attending publisher/producers. In the case of an online event, you will not be speaking to publisher/producers one-on-one, but rather presenting your skills to ALL the publisher/producers simultaneously.

I’ve never used Zoom, how will that work? If we do hold this as on online Zoom event, the selected narrators will be invited to a Zoom test session before the actual event to work out any issues with access, video, audio, and lighting. We encourage you to try out Zoom for yourself first – call a friend and get a sense of how it works. For the event itself, you will join the meeting at an assigned time, be placed in a waiting room until it’s your turn, then have 4 minutes to tell the producers in the meeting all about you and your skills (this is NOT an audition; you will not be reading selections).
